Laurus Energy Inc. (Houston, USA) has completed site characterisation for its flagship εUCG™ project in the Drayton Valley area in West Central Alberta, Canada. Fourteen (14) exploration and testing wells have been installed and subsequent analysis of the geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical features and behaviour of the coal field have been conducted. This important program of work forms the basis for submission of project applications to the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and Alberta Environment (AENV). Furthermore, the results of this work allow Laurus Energy and its UCG technology partner, Ergo Exergy Technologies Inc. of Canada, to undergo detailed planning and design of the proposed εUCG™ project, which is expected to be commissioned in mid 2010.
