Solid Energy and Ergo Exergy Complete UCG Pre Feasibility Study in Huntly, New Zealand

Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd and Ergo Exergy Technologies Inc. have completed an extensive pre-feasibility study for application of UCG in the Huntly Coal Field in the North Island of New Zealand. The pre-feasibility study was undertaken based on the site chosen during the site selection study which was completed in November 2008. The pre-feasibility study details technical, environmental and financial attributes of the proposed trial and commercial εUCG™ operations. The outcomes of the work provide significant input to Solid Energy’s statutory environmental consent and funding applications for the next stages of operation including site characterisation and pilot operation. Extensive characterisation of the site is expected to commence in early 2010. This work will provide the necessary information for design, construction and commissioning of the underground pilot plant and surface infrastructure, which is expected to take place in the latter half of 2010.
